In preparation for the relocation to the new hospital location in Doetinchem (The Netherlands), the Slingeland Hospital and Philips have entered into a strategic partnership for the next 14 years. The partnership focuses on the supply, management and sustainable deployment of ultrasound equipment, with the aim of optimizing care processes and supporting healthcare professionals.

Digital transformation and sustainable care go hand in hand in the new partnership between the Slingeland Hospital and Philips. With a long-term framework agreement, both organizations are committed to predictable, reliable and future-oriented medical technology.

Technology Maximizer program

Part of this is Philips' Technology Maximizer program, which keeps systems continuously up-to-date through software and AI updates. This not only extends the life of the equipment, but also supports healthcare professionals with the latest digital applications - including AI support during ultrasound exams.

“We are looking beyond the move itself. Our ambition is to continue to invest continuously in both the quality of care and the support of our employees during the transition to the new building location,” said Janet Rekker-Schuring, member of the Slingeland Hospital Executive Board. “By thinking strategically about our ultrasound facilities together with Philips, we ensure that we have appropriate, flexible and future-proof technology for the next 14 years.” In the video below, Philips provides more information about the Technology Maximizer program.

Smart use of technology and focus on sustainability

The collaboration focuses not only on technological innovation, but also on sustainability. Both parties are signatories to the Green Deal “Working together on sustainable care” and are explicitly committed to extending the life of equipment. By limiting replacements and making better use of existing systems, waste is prevented and the ecological footprint of medical technology is reduced.

“The healthcare sector is under pressure due to increasing demand, staff shortages and budgetary challenges,” said Léon Kempeneers, Managing Director Philips Benelux. “That's why we think with hospitals not only about technology, but especially about how that technology can be used smarter, more efficiently and more sustainably. The cooperation with the Slingeland Hospital is a powerful example of this.”

Thinking ahead as a function of better care

In view of the new building location, replacement times for ultrasound equipment are proactively coordinated within the agreement and evaluated annually. This ensures that the hospital continues to have the right technological support, tailored to changing care needs and innovations within medical imaging.

This long-term cooperation underlines the need for future-oriented care policy, in which technology plays a key role in increasing care quality, job satisfaction and sustainability.
